UMass Medical School in Worcester is participating in a study of antibodies treatments for COVID-19.

The school is participating in the ACTIV-2 Outpatient Monoclonal Antibodies and Other Therapies Trial, which is being led by the AIDS Clinical Trials Group. The trial is aimed at evaluating promising early treatments for the virus to keep people from requiring to be hospitalized, according to a release from the school.

The study will evaluate these treatments to determine whether the therapies are able to decrease viral shedding, thereby potentially preventing transmission of the coronavirus.

The randomized study will be conducted on participants who have tested positive for the coronavirus in the outpatient setting within 10 days and started experiencing symptoms within eight days of enrolling, according to the release.

More information about enrolling in the study is available online.
