Verizon Wireless has expanded its coverage to include several Central Mass. communities, including towns in the North County region.
The high-speed wireless broadband expansion will include Ashburnham, Athol, Ayer, Fitchburg, and Templeton, among others. Towns towards the western part of the county included in the expansion are Sturbridge, Brookfield, and Spencer, as well as several communities in and around the immediate Worcester region.
Users of the Verizon service in those communities will also have access to Verizon's V CAST multimedia service, allowing users to download music to V CAST-enabled phones.
Bob Stott, New England Region president for Verizon Wireless, said the company is investing in the expansion to both improve network reliability and provide the high-speed service to additional Massachusetts communities.
