Westborough, Maryland Firms Merge

Westborough-based Systematics Inc. has signed a strategic alliance agreement with National Office Systems Inc. of Maryland.

The merger gives Systematics, which makes specialized storage and filing systems, an opportunity to expand distribution in the eastern part of the country and gives it access to customers in the federal government.

Systematics will continue to do business under that name, although officially the merged firm will be called National Office Systems of New England Inc. Tom Schaefer will remain as president of Systematics and will serve on the board of directors of National Office Systems of New England.

Until now, Systematics has worked mainly in the Northeast.

Systematics' products include weapons and evidence lockers, high density shelving, office and library shelving and specialized furniture and fixtures among others. The company also offers document tracking software.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
