Hamilton doesn’t see her leadership approach fitting into the traditional CEO mold, but it’s certainly working for her. She leads the 136-year-old nonprofit by centering partnership and empathy as she works to grow its programming, which reaches 8,000 youth annually.
The nonprofit offers services including free drivers education, SAT prep, and STEM initiatives with 97% of its high schoolers graduating on time and pursuing higher ed. While the organization only charges an annual $25 fee, it generated $4.37 million in 2023 revenue.
The nonprofit added an e-sports lounge to its Harrington Clubhouse this fall and acquired the basement of its Plumley Village Clubhouse, allowing the club to offer services to 100 children each day. This coming fall, the Boys & Girls Club will initiate a certified nursing assistant program for those 19 to 26, further expanding its support of young people entering the workforce.
Last year, the organization launched a $42-million capital campaign to build a new clubhouse in Great Brook Valley for facilities including a gymnasium, swimming pool, teaching kitchen, and workforce center. It will expand the nonprofit’s outreach from 50 children to 500+, and allow the club to offer adult job training and certifications, such as childcare.
