Aspen to insulate Alberta oil line

Northborough-based Aspen Aerogels said it has a new contract with Suncor Energy Inc. to supply aerogel insulation material to an above ground oil pipeline in Alberta, Canada.
Under the contract, Aspen's insulation will be applied to 800 meters of pipe manufactured by Shaw Pipe. The pipe will be installed at Suncor's Firebag project. Aspen will pre-insulate the pipe in Edmonton before it is delivered to the Firebag project.
The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. The company said the pre-insulation process would save time and money over insulating the line at the "congested, space-constrained" work site.
