A growing Australian software company has moved into temporary office space in the Boston-area outback while it searches for a more permanent home in the region.
Sydney-based Altium Ltd., a developer of software used by electronics engineers, moved into space for 12 employees at the Highland March Executive Suites and Shared Office Center in Westboro over Patriots Day weekend. The company is on an indefinite lease, said Lisa Kirby Gibbs, president of Highland March.
"In order to better serve our growing number of customers in the Boston area and the East Coast, we are looking to establish a dedicated sales and support presence in the Westborough area," said Mike Stipe, vice president of sales in the Americas, for Altium. "In our current growth mode, we are also drawn to the area's strong talent pool of engineers and experienced technology workers. We look forward to furthering our success by building on the strong sales and support foundations dedicated to this region."
A company spokesperson said the space is only temporary while the location of a future office in the Boston area is being determined.
Altium recently reported that its revenues for the last six months of 2006 grew 22 percent to nearly $19.5 million, driven in part by a 32 percent increase in sales in the Americas.
Founded in 1985, Altium produces software products aimed at unifying the different design disciplines involved in electronic product development. The company's main product, Altium Designer, enables engineers to bring together the design of hardware, programmable hardware and embedded software in electronic devices.
Altium's U.S. operations are based in Carlsbad, Calif. The company also has international offices in Europe, Japan and China.
