Excuse me, your butt is ringing

According to Framingham-based Computerworld Magazine, there are nine new deadly sins of cell phone use, the worst being "butt dialing."

The magazine and VitalSmarts recently conducted a web survey regarding cell phone etiquette. According to the results, 91 percent of respondents had recently suffered "a technology related public display of insensitivity."

However, 83 percent of respondents said they were rarely or never actually responsible for such annoying behavior.

The top "deadly sin of mobile phone use," according to the survey is "butt dialing," which occurs when phone keys are inadvertently pressed on phones stored in pants pockets.

Other sins include "aisle clogging," "untoward braggadocio," "bad phone hygiene," "bad headset denial," "inappropriate headset use," "phone camera abuse," "eating and talking," and "public speakerphoning."
