• Windham Automated Machines Inc. in Mansfield won the Alternative Energy Company Award from the Connecticut Technology Council at the Innovation Pipeline Accelerator awards ceremony. The company was recognized for its hydroelectric turbine.
• Sue Bennett, Sharifa Abraham and Rhoda Lawrence received the Excellence in Caregiving Award from the Connecticut chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Bennett is a licensed practical nurse at Westside Care Center in Manchester. Abraham is a recreation therapist at Westside Care Center and Lawrence is a licensed practical nurse at Bidwell Care Center in Manchester.
• Ken Russo, director of preconstruction at Konover Construction Corp. in Farmington, was named Estimator of the Year by the Conn. chapter 60, American Society of Professional Estimators, and the Connecticut Building Congress. Russo was judged on type, length and consistency of service to the chapter, involvement on the board or committees and demonstration of concern and commitment to its mission.
