Husbands, Wives Give Best Career Advice

Workers considering changing jobs are turning to their significant others and career mentors more and more, but are asking coworkers and friends for advice less often, according to an Accountemps survey.
Accountemps, an international temporary employment agency focused on the accounting and financial services industries, found that 46 percent of employees said they would approach a spouse or significant other first when evaluating a potential job change. That's up from 42 percent five years ago.
Another 41 percent would approach a career mentor first, up from 28 percent in 2002.
But coworkers and friends perhaps aren't counted on for sage career advice as much as in previous years. Only four percent of respondents said they would go to a coworker first when considering a career move. That's down from 13 percent five years ago. Just 3 percent said a friend would be the first person they'd talk to, down from 11 percent five years ago.
