Mass. Realtor Confidence Up Again

Confidence among the state's realtors in the Massachusetts real estate market rose for the sixth straight month in January, despite a slight drop in their forecast on prices, according to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors (MAR).

The MAR's Realtor Market Index, which measures confidence, jumped more than 50 percent from January 2011 to last month. The index gained nearly 13 percent from December 2011. Last month's index measured 31.9 on a 100-point scale, still well below the midpoint of 50.

The association's price index measured a 46 in January, down less than 2 percent from January 2011 and down 5.18 percent from December 2011.

"As long as we can continue to see increases (in the confidence index) each month, we have good reason to be optimistic about an eventual recovery" in the market, MAR President Trisha McCarthy said.
