A weekly outdoor market will bring handmade and vintage goods, a farmers market, and entertainment to the courtyard at The Glass Tower in Downtown Worcester beginning on July 22.

Saturday Mercado is presented by Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District, the Worcester Regional Food Hub, and Kommon Sense Co. owned by WBJ 40 under Forty alum Katherine Aguilar.

“Having organized many different markets and workshops all around Worcester and participated in even more as a creative small business owner myself, I know the impact that markets like this can have on the community,” Aguilar said in a Thursday press release from Downtown Worcester BID.  “The Saturday Mercado will showcase some of the amazing creative entrepreneurs in our area and bring a fun new way to ‘shop small’ to Downtown Worcester. It’s going to be one of the most vibrant, diverse, creative experiences in the city this summer.”

The market will be open 12pm-4pm on Saturdays from July 22 through September 9. It complements the Worcester Regional Food Hub MarketPlace which opened in October, bringing rotating food options to the ground floor of The Glass Tower at 446 Main St. The group is inviting vendors to apply to be a part of the market.

“We are excited to be a part of the new Saturday Mercados this summer, and to invite the Worcester community to our home on Main Street to enjoy a unique and creative shopping experience,” said Ryan Chamberlain, vice president with the building’s owner, Synergy Investments who owns the building, in the press release.
