Photo/Courtesy Worcester Local First gathered more than 4,800 pounds of food and nearly $700 for the Worcester County Food Bank during the 2010 Hunger Hurts! Food Drive. For each donated dollar, the food bank can distribute more than $5 of food to those in need. Worcester-based Fallon Community Health Plan was the lead sponsor of the food drive, providing $2,500 in funding for the campaign. Webster First Federal Credit Union and the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester were the biggest contributors to the drive, raising 1,000 and 300 pounds of food respectively. Photo/Courtesy Worcester-based Spectrum Health Systems Inc. recently dedicated a new $2.5 million Westborough facility for residential substance and alcohol abuse treatment for pregnant women and their children. The building was paid for entirely through fundraising. It is named after one of the largest donors, Kevin Giblin of Brendon Properties in Southborough, who is pictured above at the podium.
