Owners of Teddy G’s restaurant in Sturbridge, Jenna and Ted Gidopoulos, have completed the purchase of a former Friendly’s at 367 Main St. in the same town for $1.5 million, and announced on Monday plans to turn the building into a brick oven pizza spot.
The sale closed on Monday, according to the Worcester Registry of Deeds. The property was sold by Karikan Sturbridge Owner LLC, registered to leadership at Karikan Realty Corp. of New York.
The restaurant is set to be named Gido’s Brick Oven Pizza, and will include ice cream, chicken wings, pasta, and seafood entrees. The restaurateurs plan to keep and make use of the ice cream window.
Work slated for the building includes major indoor renovations, installation of a new HVAC system, as well as new equipment and furniture. The pair plan to add a full-service patio and picnic tables for customers buying takeout.
“It’s something we’ve wanted to do for quite some time,” Ted Giodopoulos said in a statement. “Both Jenna and I started out as kids working in the pizza business, and we’re passionate about creating an enjoyable dining experience for our customers.”
The pair said in their announcement they purchased the property with help from a U.S. Small Business Administration loan secured through bankHometown's location in Sturbridge. The property was last assessed by the Town of Sturbridge at $808,900 in 2020, according to Sturbridge Assessors records.
An opening date for the new restaurant has yet to be announced.
Awesome! Congratulations to them! Hoping for a huge success!
