The Worcester Polytechnic Institute Venture Forum will take a field trip to Devens for its next meeting on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Bionostics Inc., located at 7 Jackson Rd. in Devens, will play host for the event. Bionostics provides services to medical device manufacturers, including developing, manufacturing and packaging liquids. The company was started in 1981 in Acton, and moved in 2001 to a 45,000-square-foot building on Devens.
Several times a year, the WPI Venture Forum - which brings the VC industry together with entrepreneurs - holds networking events at companies or organizations in the region.
"This event is a little bit different than some of our other events because people will get to see some of the technology that Bionostics is working on," said Gina Betti, the forum's administrative director.
"These events are well received," Betti added. "People love to come out and make their pitch. You have to have a really succinct pitch that you can share with others, find out what others are doing, and how you can help them."
Betti recommends people make to-the-point pitches of between 10 and 30 seconds as they informally network with others.
"There is future value in attending these events," she said. "There is not always present value: Networking is a building process."
As many as 150 people typically attend vetnure forum gatherings.
The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments are provided.

This event is being co-promoted by the Medical Development Group, an industry group for developers of medical devices and medical technology.
