Revenue Restatement
Devens-based American Superconductor had some difficult news to share recently. The company announced that a major Chinese customer has stopped paying on some major orders, sending the company into the red for the fourth quarter to the tune of $40 million. The news prompted this advice:

"It is never wise for a company to place so much reliance on a single customer. AMSC had better search for customers to purchase the components that were destined for the Chinese customer and then think about expanding their customer base."

Expressing Doubt
Ontario, Canada-based Generex Biotechnology Corp. plans to spin off its Worcester subsidiary Antigen Express as part of a larger reorganization. Generex management is also seeking approval from shareholders for a reverse stock split. But that plan was criticized by at least one online reader, who questioned the proposal:

"As a shareholder, I would like to know what is going on right now with the current management decision."

Economic Outlook
The Massachusetts unemployment rate has made steady gains in recent months, most recently falling to 8.3 percent. We asked our readers whether the unemployment rate has impacted their businesses, and received the following response:

"My firm conviction is our actual unemployment rate is roughly double the ‘official’ rate… All of this continues to affect virtually every business — including my own freelance writing/marketing/fundraising work."
