The annual Bank of America Championship will donate $418,000 to area charities this year, despite the cancellation of this year's PGA event at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord.
The Championship, which is an official event on the PGA TOUR's Champions Tour, has donated more than $4.5 million to charity over its 26-year history. Funds collected as a result of the tournament are directed to Nashawtuc Charities, and then routed to charities around the Bay State. Within the charitable giving, the Champions Tour donated $50,000, and separate from the total was $5,000 donated by Champions Tour players for youth golf programs.
Charitable organizations that will receive donations this year include the Boys and Girls Club of Assabet Valley, Lincoln-Sudbury Athletic Boosters, the Greater Worcester Food Bank, Marlboro Food Pantry, and the MetroWest Boys and Girls Club, among others.
