Girl power

The Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts has named Patricia Hallberg of Akron, Ohio, as its new CEO, effective January 1, 2008.

Hallberg's appointment comes as the scouting organization is re-organizing in the state, merging the Montachusett, Pioneer Valley and Western Massachusetts Girl Scout Councils into one, the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts.

The new organization will serve more than 200 communities and 17,500 members in Central and Western Massachusetts, the organization said. Services will continue to be provided to members in the communities of Worcester, East Longmeadow and Leeds at least through 2008, as the organization develops a new corporate office within the I-90/I-91 corridor.

Hallberg previously founded and served as CEO for Invent Now Kids Inc., a national nonprofit organization. She will relocate her family from Ohio, the organization said.
