Harrington Hospital's Southbridge and Webster campuses have been recognized for their stroke care by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Harrington, which announced the honor Thursday, was awarded through DPH's Paul Coverdell Stroke Systems of Care Collaborative, which Harrington said recognizes quality-of-care benchmarks and other participation requirements of the collaborative. Harrington's emergency care centers in Southbridge and Webster are both designated primary stroke service centers, and both have achieved a door-to-CT scan time of 25 minutes or less for at least three-fourths of stroke patients.

The hospital works with UMass Memorial Medical Center's Department of Neurology TeleStroke Program through teleconferencing technology to provide around-the-clock on-demand emergency neurology consultation to improve the care of stroke patients.
